Hey All,
So I don’t have a picture of this one but, maybe some of you have some experience with this. I have a file where I have imported a LiDAR layer from ArcMap, and am trying to create a proposed surface to get some cut/fill data. In drawing my contour lines, I’ve been exploding them on occasion to alter them, and then I want to join the lines back together to create a polyline.
For whatever reason, when I go to join lines (normally ones I had previously exploded into multiple individual lines) back into a polyline using the join command, it then tells me, “x lines have been joined into a 3D polyline.” Shouldn’t that be joining them into a 2D polyline? My only real issue with this is that when I go to try and offset the lines I’ve joined, it says I cannot because they all aren’t on the same plane, which I would assume is because it assumes the 3D polyline is on multiple planes.
Let me know if anyone knows why this is happening so that way I can avoid it/fix whatever I need to in the future. I haven’t been able to pin down the conditions on why this is happening.
Thanks all!
